Foods to Enjoy
Dietary interventions can play a significant role in supporting the body’s natural detoxification processes for heavy metals and in combating bacterial and parasitic infections. Below are some dietaries which can aid with this:
1. Enhancing Heavy Metal Detoxification
- Consuming foods rich in dietary fibre, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, can bind heavy metals in the digestive tract, promoting their excretion and reducing their absorption into the bloodstream. Aim to consume 1-2cups of fruits and vegetables in your child's daily diet to support this process.
- Certain probiotic strains, including Lactobacillus rhamnosus within our BB Kids Repair demonstrated the ability to bind heavy metals like cadmium and lead, thereby reducing their absorption in the intestines; these can also be found in some probiotic foods such as coconut yoghurt!
2. Enhancing Antibacterial and Anti-parasitic activity
- Antibacterial and anti-parasitic foods, such as onions and garlic, herbs and spices have been found to support reduction in parasitic and bacterial overgrowths. Consider adding in turmeric, onion, garlic, ginger, aniseed to your child's daily meals!
- Intake of dietary fibre has been associated with an increased diversity of beneficial bacteria in the gut which supports the clearance of parasites and bacteria - think 1-2 cups of fruits and vegetables daily.
Foods to Reduce
To support the body’s natural detoxification processes and reduce the risk of bacterial and parasitic infections, it’s important to be mindful of certain diet and food handling practices. Here are some recommendations on what to reduce:
- Refined Sugars: High intake of refined sugars can negatively impact gut health by promoting the growth of harmful bacteria and contributing to inflammation. Reduce as much as possible
- Processed and Fried Foods: These foods often contain unhealthy fats and additives that can disrupt gut health and promote inflammation. Limiting their intake can be beneficial for maintaining a healthy digestive system.
- Unwashed Fruits and Vegetables: Fresh produce can be contaminated with parasites from soil or water. Always wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption.
By reducing these foods and practices, you can support your body’s detoxification processes and improve the clearance of heavy metals, bacteria and parasites.
Die off symptoms
When introducing antimicrobial herbs into the body, it can cause die off symptoms. This is due to the biofilm around bacteria being broken down by the herbs, which releases the pathogens into the gastrointestinal system. As the membranes of pathogens are broken down with the antimicrobial herbs, the pathogens release toxins.
The most common bacteria die-off symptoms are:
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Body aches and pains
- Skin rashes or reactions
- Mood symptoms (e.g. anxiety and depression)
- Respiratory phlegm or stuffy nose
- Increased GI upset
- Diarrhoea
- Flu-like symptoms (e.g. fever and chills)
These symptoms should only last for 7-10 days and should be mild. If you notice severe symptoms, then reduce dosage by 50% and read our FAQ's.
Lifestyle tips
- Regular Physical Activity: Engage in activities like trampolining or yoga to stimulate the lymphatic system, aiding in the removal of toxins.
- Adequate Rest: Ensure sufficient sleep to support immune function and overall recovery during detoxification.
- Epsom Salt Baths: Taking Epsom salt baths can help draw toxins from the skin and increase sulfate levels, which is helpful for liver detoxification.
